Elon University, North Carolina World Forest Project has the distinction of being the very first group of participants to plant trees under the One Tree for Every Bajan Program. Identifying Walkers Reserve as a protected, conservation site in Barbados for tree planting, they reached out selecting us as a local partner. A total of 31 students planted 60 Sea Grape trees within the Sand Dunes on Walkers Beach.
These trees do not only provide food but also assist in dune restoration!

We were extremely delighted to welcome our friends from Elon University back to Walkers Reserve to plant trees with us. As a higher education leader in study abroad and sustainability, the Elon World Forest Project was launched in January 2018. Since then Elon has visited Walkers Reserve in 2019, 2020, 2022 and now 2023.
This year 22 students visited the Reserve and put 12 Seagrape plants in the ground.
