We were pleased to welcome guests from the 9th edition of the Barbados Independent Film Festival (BIFF) for a tree planting experience at Walkers Reserve, the team planted 12 trees!

With a recurring theme of “Bim Film for Change”, BIFF continues to partner with WIRRED and Walkers Reserve to raise awareness about climate change and the need for consistent environmental impact.

BIFF 2023

Filmmakers participating in the 7th edition of the Barbados International Film Festival (BIFF), held from March 15th to 19th this year, planted 30 Seagrape trees at Walkers Reserve.

The group included filmmakers from the USA, UK, Latin America and the Caribbean. Thirty trees were planted offsetting 41,631.6 travel miles and recognising the International Day of Forests, which is celebrated annually on March 21st.

BIFF as an international, independent film festival, is committed to highlighting the work of emerging and accomplished filmmakers and performing artists while identifying champions and solutions for a better world.

BIFF 2020

In 2020, 23 members of the Barbados Independent Film Festival (BIFF) teamed up with the One Tree for Every Bajan Program to plant 38 fruit trees at Walkers Reserve. Trees planted were Canistel, Sapodilla, Suriname Cherry, Bajan Ackee and Plantain. BIFF recognizes the power of trees and supports the overarching goal and commitment of the program to engage a diverse community of stakeholders in a holistic manner.

One Tree for Every Bajan is committed to partnering with the creative sector in the promoting and building of environmental awareness!
