The collaboration between the Codrington School and the One Tree for Every Bajan Program certainly came about in quite a unique way. Daniel, a student of the school, was doing research on mining in Africa for a school project. While doing so, he discovered that many areas were mined and abandoned, and decided to do some research on what could be done about this.  This is when Daniel came across WIRRED’s Walkers Reserve Project and wanted to get involved. He along with 27 of his schoolmates joined us at Walkers in planting 50 Sea Grape trees along Walkers Beach to assist in the Sand Dune Restoration Project.

Since then, we have partnered with the Codrington School in 2020 for a tree planting activity on our sand dunes and in May 2022 for a special project. Their creative students assisted us with the painting of a mural, as part of WIRRED’s eARTh initiative, and the planting of 79 various fruit trees in our orchard.

We have been so happy to have this partnership live on and cannot wait to see what we can work on together next!
